HISTORY OF THE GLOBE

This fibreglass globe was made in 1987. Birdwood High School students & staff in South Australia prepared the electronics. Over 200 cities are marked on an earth with no boundaries. The globe shows the 24-hour journey of the 3 Minutes World Silence as it travels through the 36 time-zones, beginning and ending at the International Date Line. As it travels, the World Silence pauses at 11.00 a.m. in each time-zone, linking everyone North and South at this special time for everyone of us to remember the future and wish for peace.
